The Launch, a Canadian reality music competition that aired on CTV for two seasons (2018-2019), featured a visually stunning set spanning two studios: the Performance Stage and the Recording Studio. Moss LED was instrumental in enhancing the set's unique features, creating an inviting yet dynamic atmosphere for contestants, judges and audiences alike.

Key Set LED Elements

Recording Studio Circular Steps

The toe lip of each step in the Recording Studio was illuminated with FlexLED 60 White 24V 3000K, which provided a warm glow shooting downward. Controlled by VentiDrive 24-Channel Dimmers and 5-Pin Extension Cables, the lighting gave the steps an elegant, well-lit appearance, perfect for on-camera presentation.

Recording Studio Slat Wall

Positioned next to the sound booth, the slat wall was accented with 50 meters (164 feet) of FlexLED 60 White 24V 3000K to highlight the top edge and vertical pillars. This strategic lighting added depth and visual interest to the wall. VentiDrive 24-Channel Dimmers paired with 5-Pin Extension Cables provided seamless control over the lighting, ensuring a consistent glow.

Recording Studio Large Columns

Each of the four large columns on set were lit with two lines of FlexLED 60 White 24V 3000K, shooting inward on each face of the columns to allow for 360-degree camera shots. The lighting was professionally controlled via VentiDrive 24-Channel Dimmers and the system was securely mounted on truss at the top of each column for ease of rigging.

Recording Studio Sonotubes

What began as a simple design concept evolved into an innovative lighting feature located opposite the slat wall. Behind each muslin-draped tube hanging guitars, FlexLED 60 White 24V 3000K was specified inside our ALM-2027 Aluminum Channel.

Recording Booth and iHeart Radio Lounge LuxLines

Bi-Colour LuxLines were used to light the ceilings of both the recording studio and the iHeart Radio Lounge on the Performance Stage. Made with FlexLED Bi-Colour 3000K-5600K 24V (CCT Adjustable) and installed inside our ALM-2027 Aluminum Channel with aircraft cable hangers, the LuxLines were designed to provide adjustable lighting based on specific needs. With the help of VentiDrive 24-Channel Dimmers and 5-pin Extension Cable, twelve LuxLines were controlled via a single 24-Channel VentiDrive.

Recording Studio Window/Door Frames

To outline the windows and door frames throughout the Recording Studio, DiffuseFLEX™ LED 3000k was utilized. Careful cutting and placement at each corner allowed the lighting to shine outward, creating a clean, modern look that complemented the overall aesthetic of the space.

Performance Stage Railing

Our DiffuseFLEX™ LED RGB+W (5500k) was installed on the front side of the Performance Stage railing. The design allowed for dual functionality: it enhanced the visual space for forward-facing shots while providing subtle under-chin lighting and highlighting hand movements when cameras captured reverse angles. This lighting solution ensured a dynamic presentation on camera, keeping the focus on the performers.
