MOSS LIT: Award Nominated Canadian Specials

Canada is Pretty Special

From music to television and film to literary works, Canada has a lot to celebrate.  But we don't stop there, every year we produce all sorts of big broadcast specials.

We conclude our 4 part series celebrating award-nominated Canadian television, taking a look at one-off special events.

If you missed the other parts of our series; check out our posts about the award-nominated dramaticcomedic and reality television Canadians make.

Today, March 29th, would have been the Canadian Screen Awards Gala.  This year's Gala may have been cancelled to adhere to the orders of Public Health but, we'd still like to take this moment to congratulate some of the many MOSS LIT Live Entertainment Specials on their CSA award nominations this season.

The Canadian Screen Awards are awards given annually by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television recognizing excellence in Canadian film, English-language television, and digital media productions.

The new awards were first presented in 2013 as the result of a merger of the Gemini Awards and Genie Awards — the Academy's previous awards presentations for television (English-language) and film productions.

They are widely considered to be the most prestigious award for Canadian entertainers, artists, and filmmakers, often referred to as the equivalent of the Oscars and Emmy Awards in the United States,

Indigenous ways of knowing and being are inherent in who we are as a people. Knowledge has been passed down for countless generations despite many historic disruptions. Indigenous people are keepers of traditional knowledge, yet we are contemporary people in a modern world. It is our knowledge and ways that makes us truly unique and give us tools to thrive in the paths we choose.

Finally, while it doesn't really fit this category... it doesn't really fit our other categories either. But, especially right now with the importance of reliable and trustworthy factual information, it's an area of media many of us are binging on like crazy.  We'd be amiss not to congratulate our MOSS LIT news nominee;

CBC News: The National

CBC / CBC News App
6 Nominations including Best National Newscast

The National is CBC’s flagship newscast, featuring depth and context from the CBC’s bureaus across the country and around the world with hosts Adrienne Arsenault and Andrew Chang in Toronto, Rosemary Barton in Ottawa, and Ian Hanomansing in Vancouver. It is the destination for original journalism, bringing the real story to Canadians where and when they want it.

Across the board, in drama, comedy, reality, special event, and news programming, we'd like to congradulate all of the MOSS LIT productions nominated for Canadian Screen Awards this season.  While the awards gala may not be on television as it normally would be, we can all celebrate and enjoy Canadian film & television from the comfort of our own self-isolated couches.

From all of us here at Moss LED... congratulations and happy binging!!
