- Residential accent and cove LED installations
- Low-voltage LED tape runs behind walls (12V/24V)
- Small-scale architectural accent lighting
Cable Type Quick Decision Guide
Not sure which grade to specify? Start here:
- Residential or basic in-wall LED runs? → CL2 or CL3
- Canadian project or CSA compliance needed? → CMG
- Vertical runs between floors in a building? → CMR
- Above drop ceilings or air-handling spaces? → CMP
- Internal fixture or driver wiring during manufacturing? → AWM
Pro Tip
When in doubt on a film or TV set, CMR is a solid default for most permanent installs. For temporary stage builds and location shoots, CL3 is usually sufficient. AWM is only for internal fixture wiring during manufacturing — never for field runs. Always verify with the location's fire marshal or AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) before installation.
Reference guide only. Always consult NEC/CEC codes, local AHJ, and a licensed electrician for your specific installation. Cable substitution rules per NEC 725.154 and 800.154.
