AWM — Appliance Wiring Material

Voltage Rating: Varies by UL style number

NEC: UL 758 (component only)  |  CEC: CSA C22.2 No. 210 (component only)  |  Not for field wiring

UL Recognized Component for internal wiring within listed equipment. Governed by UL 758 with style numbers (e.g., UL1007, UL1015) defining specs. NOT rated for building or field wiring under NEC. Strictly for use inside products during manufacturing.

Moss LED Use Cases

  • Internal wiring inside LED fixtures and drivers
  • LED panel assembly and factory wiring
  • OEM LED product manufacturing
  • Wiring within enclosed, listed LED controllers
  • Never use for building installs or permanent field runs

Cable Type Quick Decision Guide

Not sure which grade to specify? Start here:

  • Residential or basic in-wall LED runs? → CL2 or CL3
  • Canadian project or CSA compliance needed? → CMG
  • Vertical runs between floors in a building? → CMR
  • Above drop ceilings or air-handling spaces? → CMP
  • Internal fixture or driver wiring during manufacturing? → AWM

Pro Tip

When in doubt on a film or TV set, CMR is a solid default for most permanent installs. For temporary stage builds and location shoots, CL3 is usually sufficient. AWM is only for internal fixture wiring during manufacturing — never for field runs. Always verify with the location's fire marshal or AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) before installation.

Reference guide only. Always consult NEC/CEC codes, local AHJ, and a licensed electrician for your specific installation. Cable substitution rules per NEC 725.154 and 800.154.
