Niagara Power Plant
Project: "Currents - Niagara's Power Transformed" by Thinkwell
Currents: Niagara's Power Transformed is an epic sight and sound nighttime show situated in the heart of a century-old hydroelectric power plant that follows the spectacular transformation of water to electricity. Featuring immersive, interactive storytelling, Currents offers an incredible multisensory experience amongst the generators of the first major power plant on the Canadian side of the Niagara River.

Thinkwell Studio Montréal designed and produced the all-new immersive experience at Niagara Parks Power Station, working in close collaboration with the Niagara Parks Commission, Atomic3 and Solotech. Spanning a 600-foot-long, 115-year-old industrial building, Thinkwell created over 40 minutes of projection-mapped content and lighting design for the nighttime show.

For this cutting-edge project, Moss LED contributed to animating various structural and mechanical elements, bringing the space to life with vibrant and dynamic lighting. Our Pixel FlexLED 24V RGBW Mid Frequency Group Chip Control was utilized to animate the columns and other key architectural features, mounted inside our 2310 Aluminum Channelling with clear lenses. All LED tape was controlled via the PixlArt 416 controllers. The large breaker boxes spanning the entire length of the building are highlighted with FlexLED Slim 180 White 24V, controlled by our Cinque-LED DMX Dimmers.

The massive installation utilized 720 meters (2,362') of LED tape, 8,000 feet of cabling, 33 x PixlArt 416 controllers covering 528 Universes, and 42 MeanWell power supplies.

Currents: Niagara's Power Transformed is the recipient of the SEGD Merit Award, the Muse Experiential and Immersive Live Experience Award, and the Niagara Biennial Design Award Grand Prize.
